Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (QCF)
This qualification acts as a progression route from the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (England) (QCF) qualification to the Level 4 Diploma Level in Adult Care.  It will support you in the development of a number of job roles in the adult social care sector.

Is this qualification right for you?

This qualification is a good choice for you if you are currently working in the adult care sector, but wish to develop your skills within this area to progress to leadership and management roles.

How is it assessed?
All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, practical demonstration or assignment, and coursework. Completion of this qualification is achieved through a combination of classroom-based learning and experience in the workplace. All mandatory and optional units within this qualification are vocationally based, directly helping you gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required to work in the adult care sector.
To gain this qualification, you must gain a minimum of 70 credits.
36 credits must be achieved from the Mandatory Group, a minimum of 6 credits from Optional Group A and a minimum of 28 credits from Optional Group B.

What knowledge and skills will this qualification give you?

Completion of this qualification will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills required to work in a senior role in the adult care sector, for example:
  • developing advanced communication skills whilst working with individuals and others
  • using reflective practice and evidence based research for personal development
  • Inclusion of equality and diversity in the work setting.
  • Understanding abuse types and common symptoms.
  • Understanding the policies and procedures in place around safeguarding, and the role of the worker in putting these into practice.
  • using assessment processes to support the wellbeing of individuals and key areas of practice that support the implementation of personalisation
  • developing understanding of the theory, practice and legislation that underpins the personalisation agenda for care and support services
  • Implementing health and safety in the work setting
  • Analysing professional practice in a range of settings
  • Developing, maintaining and using records and reports
  • Implementing and promoting effective partnership working
  • Recognising and responding to harm, abuse and neglect.
Why should you take this particular qualification?
You should take this qualification if you have previous experience or qualifications within the Health and Social Care sector, and wish to develop your knowledge and understanding of the skills required to work in adult care, and in roles which require greater responsibility than at level 3.
This is the only available qualification at this level within the sector. It acts as a progression route from level 4 to level 5, and will enable you to obtain the specialist knowledge, understanding and competence necessary to fulfil a number of senior job roles at this level specifically within this area.

Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration
The Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration has been accredited by the qualifications regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). This is a cross sector qualification aimed at current and prospective business administrators.
 This qualification covers the skills needed to be successful at a managerial level, and covers competencies applicable to a wide range of contexts.

Achieving this qualification
To be awarded the Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration, learners must achieve a minimum of 57 credits
  • a total of 18 credits from group A
  • a minimum of 26 credits from group B
  • And the remaining credits can come from either group B or C.
Aims and objectives of this qualification

This qualification aims to:
  • Provide learners with the skills they need to operate as a successful senior business administrator
  • Confirm competence of those already fulfilling a business administration role
  • Allow learners to develop skills in a range of areas relevant to business administration roles, such as communication, presentation skills and providing administrative support.
The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:
  • Develop the skills and qualities valued in employees by employers
  • Understand and work on their strengths and weaknesses as a business administrator.
Entry guidance
This qualification is designed for learners who are working, or would like to work, in a senior business administration role within any sector or industry. It’s ideal for those who have worked in an entry level business administration role or who’ve been working at that level for a short period of time and are looking to further develop their managerial skills. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 3 Business Administration or related qualification.
